  With all five starters graduating for Melcher-Dallas, freshmen Brooklyn Metz and Paetyn Anderson will battle for starting spots. Also looking to start next season will be sophomores Kasyn Reed and BrieAnna Remster. The biggest question mark surrounding Melcher-Dallas next season though will be the health of Hailey Hoch, who missed the second half of the season with a torn ACL.   The four underclassmen combined to score a total of 83 points in 2020-21, 17 less than what Hoch had in ten games played.

  The Saints got a taste of what next year could look like with four starters sitting out for the second half of the season due to COVID-19 contact tracing at the Bluegrass Conference Tournament. Underclassmen that started games for Melcher-Dallas this past season included sophomore Kasyn Reed, sophomore BrieAnna Remster, freshman Brooklyn Metz, and freshman Paetyn Anderson.   Melcher-Dallas will also hope to get Hailey Hoch back 100% healthy as she missed the second half of the season with a torn ACL. Hoch was the Saints’ leading rebounder in 2020-21.

  Leading the way for Melcher-Dallas in scoring was Senior Kynser Reed, who averaged over 12 points per game while also hauling down seven rebounds per game. The Saints’ top rebounder was Hailey Hoch, who averaged just under nine rebounds per game to go with her ten points a game. Melcher-Dallas’ top three-point shooter was Senior Haley Godfrey, who shot 31.5% from beyond the arc.   Next year, Melcher-Dallas will have a completely new starting lineup as Reed, Godfrey, Grace Overgaard, and Kacey and Riley Enfield all will be graduating.   The Saints had an up-and-down season this year, which included a COVID-19 shutdown, four players sitting out in the second half of the season, but also a stretch where they won seven of eight games. Leading the way for Melcher-Dallas this season was Kynser Reed, who averaged 12 points and seven rebounds.   The Saints’ boys have now won back-to-back games after finishing fourth in the conference tournament. Melcher-Dallas had three players hit double figures as Ryan Krpan, Lane VanderLinden and Pierce Chiabotta each had ten points or more. Krpan and VanderLinden each had 13, while Chiabotta had ten.
