Chatham Commission declines to vote on commissioner, chairman salaries

Under state law commissioners cannot increase their own pay as a board. Instead, the current board can approve a pay raise for its successor. Since the pay raise wasn’t approved Friday, which was the final meeting of 2020, commissioners won’t be eligible for a base pay increase for another four years.
