The Environmental Integrity Project (“EIP”) issued on March 17th a report titled: The Clean Water Act at 50: Promises Half Kept at the Half Century Mark (“Report”)

Sewage in rivers to the point where you could smell them, or full of oil they would ignite. The United States has come a long way since the implementation of the Clean Water Act 50 years ago, but some groups say it needs to be updated and given more teeth.

There are 1.4 million miles of rivers and streams that have been assessed by states, and 50% are polluted to the point they are classified as impaired.
