Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced the completion of the fourth and final phase of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The dam is located on the Blue Nile River, which Egypt and Sudan depend on for their water supplies. The two countries have been trying to reach an agreement to fill the dam for more than two years. The project is raising tensions, especially with Egypt, which relies on the Nile for 90 percent of its water supply and needs the dam to be filled with water for its own use.
