Dozens of truck drivers drove in a convoy with horns blaring across Sydney for nearly two hours on Saturday afternoon to protest the NSW government’s decision to close the construction industry for two weeks as part of a COVID-19 lockdown.
The protest, which organisers claimed had more than 100 trucks, started at the M2 near Baulkham Hills at 3pm and drove over the Sydney Harbour Bridge before finishing on the Anzac Bridge close to 5pm, choking arterial roads. ....

Two sets of modelling suggest the Sydney outbreak could continue for more than two months as NSW signals an even harder lockdown following “incredible concern” that dozens of cases are still infectious in the community.
Sydney recorded 97 new local cases on Friday, up significantly from 65 on Thursday, and 29 were in the community for the whole period they were infectious, up from 28.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian: “If we need to go harder we will”.

New modelling from the University of Sydney estimated that only 40 per cent of people were complying with restrictions based on NSW case data and that even with 70 per cent compliance, it would take more than two months to bring the outbreak under control. ....
