MAYBEE Saying it would improve visibility of police officers and deter crime in the area, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough helped open a new sheriff substation in his hometown of Maybee. Amid sunny skies and spring-like readings, the sheriff assisted Village President Len Gaylor in cutting a yellow ribbon to the car bay and office located in the historic old village hall and fire station Tuesday with about two dozen people watching. The two-story brick building that dates back to 1912 will be used by deputies patrolling the northwest sector of the county. “This was a vision in partnership with the village back in January,” Goodnough said during the dedication. “Without their help, we couldn’t have done it. Our response times to the village and London, Exeter and Milan townships should be significantly improved.” ....
