Ahmedabad, May 3 : Shikhar Dhawan returned to the top of the Orange Cap table after his unbeaten knock of 69 in Delhi Capitals' (DC) seven-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Dhawan anchored a chase of a target of 167, which DC managed to get with as many as 14 balls to spare, thus helping him overtake PBKS captain KL Rahul, who did not play Sunday's match.
Rahul has been admitted to a hospital with acute appendicitis and will need surgery. While PBKS are yet to say how long it will take for their captain to return, it could mean he will be absent in matches in the immediate future, which means he could fall further in the race for the Orange Cap.

Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar's first outing in the 2021 IPL turned out to be a fairytale. His brisk cameo with the bat backed by the triple strikes with the ball helped Punjab Kings record a morale boosting 34-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Not to forget skipper KL Rahul, who earlier led from the front with a classy 91 to propel Punjab to a challenging 179 for 5 after being put in to bat at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

But it was one of those few evenings when everything Harpreet touched, turned into gold. Brar broke the backbone of the Royal Challengers Bangalore batting with the prized scalps of Virat Kohli (35), Glenn Maxwell (0) and AB de Villiers (3), to spearhead Punjab's recovery. Brar was ably supported by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who nearly clinched a hat-trick before returning figures of 2/17.

In his next over, Brar got de Villiers to hit one straight into the hands of KL Rahul at short extra cover. He finished with figures of three for 19.
In the match, after being sent in to bat by RCB, Punjab Kings posted a competitive total of 179 for five from their allotted 20 overs.

Punjab Kings have had a shambolic start to the tournament this year as they are currently in the 6th position of the

Harshal Patel is currently the leading wicket-taker of IPL 2021. The young medium-pacer scalped 16 wickets so far in the tournament. However, Harshal’s economy rate in the last few matches is not up to the mark. It looks like the batsmen have cracked his formula.
Harshal conceded 53 runs in his four overs in the match held against Punjab Kings last night. On top of that, he went wicketless in the game. This is the first match of this season where Harshal didn’t get any wickets. He gave away 22 runs in the last over of the innings.

Ahmedabad: Skipper K.L. Rahul’s unbeaten 91 (57 balls, 7x4s, 5x6s) helped Punjab Kings (PBKS) make 179 for five in 20 overs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) here at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday night.
Rahul’s onslaught helped PBKS realise 40 runs in the last two overs of Harshal Patel after they were struggling to reach a competitive total.
The Punjab franchise had lost opener Prabhsimran Singh (7) early before Chris Gayle (46 off 24 balls) and Rahul took charge. Gayle’s knock comprised six fours and two sixes and took the team score to 99 in the 11th over. After Gayle’s dismissal that left the team at 99 for two, PBKS lost three more wickets quickly which set them back and threatened to restrict them to under 150.
