A section of the beach near Haystack Rock in Oregon remains closed as the wild animal continues to roam the area.

Officials said they saw tracks leading away from Haystack Rock Monday morning, and there was no sign of the cougar. The rock has been closed since Sunday morning.

The cougar was first spotted at 6:40 a.m. on the morning of July 16. The rock's flock of tufted puffins could be a food source for the cat.

A multi-agency task force of state and local officials was formed to keep both the public and the cougar safe near Haystack Rock.
