The city of Big Rapids is giving residents the opportunity to have a piece of the Hemlock Park Playscape.

Starting Monday July 17th, a section of North State Street in the City of Big Rapids will be closed to allow for the replacement of a sewer main. Webel Stabilization Inc., based in Hart, MI, is partnering with Big Rapids Public Works to complete the project. The closure will extend from Pine Street to Maple Street. Issues with a machine at the White County courthouse delayed results Tuesday night. Voter turnout was dismal however throughout the region. In Hamilton County, only 18.6% of eligible voters turned out. Officials with County Clerk Heather Bowman's office said 1,025 ballots were cast out of a possible 5,512. A similar story played out in Wayne County where only about 10% of eligible voters turned out. In White County, voter turnout was a hair better at 21.9%.
