earlier i spoke to steve lai in taipei who told me more about the situation. those words of congratulations from antony blinken have been backed up with some actions as well. just yesterday a delegation of former senior officials arrived in taipei and they're expected to meet with various leaders here today. we will have to see what comes out of those meetings and what words get shared between the two of those parties. in the meantime, let's get more reaction to what we have seen over the weekend's elections. a researcher at the university of virginia. thanks for your time today. firstly these election results show taiwan will actually have a weaker parliament and a weaker parliament for the next four years given the split of how the parties have divided up the parliamentary seats. what do you make of that and particular now that tpp looks like they could hold some leverage in parliament? i think the election was very much as expected in terms of the presidential election,

outside of new york. it's to protect right now potentially the taxpayers of new york because at some point he may have to sell something in order to meet that fine. i think we're a ways away from that. but this is huge for him. you know, i can't -- you can't overstate it. it's incredibly important to him and that's why i think he's here today. he wants to get his final two cents in. they're speaking today bodes to their supporters, but also to the appellate court where they've had one ruling that they think could go in their favor on the statute of limitations which could cut this down when we go to the appellate court. it's going to be going on for a while. this is very real to him. >> when we say going on for a while, charles, what are we looking at here? >> it depends, we know that judge engoron is going to rule on this sooner than later. that date has already been set. when you're talking about the different ways that donald trump can seek to appeal this, that's what we're talking about judge

sure that the laws are executed in this country, and she said it was paradoxical that he then would be immune from being prosecuted if he broke those very law. and he leaned over and spoke to his attorneys again during that bit of questioning. so clearly, he was listening very, very closely, and everybody in the room was eyes focused on him. you know, obviously to see what the reactions would be. very unusual to have a defendant coming to one of these proceedings. in reference to mr. pearce's mom, i asked her, you know, i asked why are you here today, and she said, you could not keep me away from here today [ laughter ] so mom is very much, very much invested in the proceedings here today. >> moms everywhere are like, you have got that right, thank you very much. >> i am so glad that you asked the question about the notes,
