SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Amar Singh College of Srinagar has received prestigious award for cultural heritage protection in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia-Pacific in 2020.
Forty-eight projects were received collectively to represent a significant achievement in the progress of conservation in the Asia-Pacific region as per the statement issued by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) J-K chapter.
Saleem Beg, convener and head INTACH, J-K Chapter said in a statement, “Project entries were diverse in scope and typology and were submitted from nine countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The Jury consisting of nine international conservation experts was convened from November 20 to 22 last to deliberate the project entries.” ....

As per the statement issued by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) J&K chapter, 48 projects were received collectively to represent a significant achievement in the progress of conservation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Srinagar-based Amar Singh College s building, built nearly 80 years ago, is one of the seven conservation projects to be recognised with the 2020 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
The award was announced on Wednesday by a jury, comprising nine international conservation experts, and it was convened from November 20 to 22 to deliberate on the project entries. The deliberations were held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, INTACH s Jammu and Kashmir chapter said. ....
