In Broward County, with 15 cases of monkeypox identified, an intense push is on to curb the local outbreak before it swells to levels seen in other pockets of the country.
The Biden administration announced Tuesday it will be sending 1.6 million monkeypox vaccine doses by the end of the year, including nearly 300,000 in the coming weeks.
Health officials are recommending anyone potentially exposed to monkeypox should get vaccinated as the virus spreads throughout the country.
The decision comes as the outbreak of the disease related to smallpox continues to spread, affecting at least 4,100 people in 46 countries as of June 24.
