Date Time Update 6pm: Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund It is heart-warming to see the influx of donations coming through for the official Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund for the Wooroloo and Hills Bushfire 2021 Appeal. We have been overwhelmed with support from the Western Australian community and would like to extend our thanks to hundreds of generous donors from around the state who have contributed to the current tally of $3,906,787.84 as of 6pm February 4. We’d like to also formally acknowledge and thank one anonymous donor who has come forward and donated $25,000 this morning. Corporate Australia has also mobilised and offers of financial support have begun to come in. ....
Date Time LMDRF Wooroloo and Hills Bushfire 2021 Appeal Destruction and property damage caused by fires burning in the Wooroloo area has led to the activation of the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund (LMDRF). The LMDRF is the recognised state emergency fund and provides relief for personal hardship and distress arising from natural disasters occurring within Western Australia. The Fund has been activated to raise and coordinate donations to financially support the victims of the fires. This will be the 50th time the appeal has been activated in 60 years. The first occasion was in 1961 when 123 homes were destroyed by fires in Dwellingup. ....
