Maybe you want to work your way up to the Bibbulmun Track? In that case, the Cape to Cape Track heads across the Margaret River region. It's about 125km from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin – which means five to seven days of clifftops, dramatic dunes, gorgeous Indian Ocean beaches and there's accommodation near enough to avoid camping if you don't want to slum it. Australia Weather Forecast: Temperatures soar amid heatwave for NSW and WA

New South Wales has registered its first 40C of the year this week, although the heatwave will be short-lived.
A mass of hot air is currently sweeping across NSW as a low pressure trough drifts over southeastern Australia, producing the first heatwave of the year to feature days over 40C.
Earlier this week, eight weather stations in the state's north and west reached or exceeded 40C, including Griffith, Tibooburra and White Cliffs.
