cuellar is responding to republican criticism that there was lack of border funding in that 1.7 trillion omnibus bill that he and his democratic colleagues just approved. take a look, trace. $60 billion was allocated for homeland security, which is a $3 billion upgrade from last year but doesn t keep up with inflation. on top of that, $60 million will go towards hiring cbp officers while a whopping 800 million goes towards the sheltering of migrants. that s a $650 million jump from last year. cuellar says that while he would have liked to have seen more border funding in this omnibus, he says it is more than what dhs received under former president trump. he says he wants to work with his republican colleagues on immigration reform. again says the white house needs to step up. trace? trace: aishah hasnie live in d.c. thank you. let s bring in republican congressman tony gonzalez. his district, of course, shares ....
