A sharp divide exists between Bloomington residents regarding whether duplexes and other multiplexes should be allowed in traditionally single-family residential neighborhoods. The City of Bloomington is revising its Unified Development Ordinance and Zoning Map. The proposed plans would add three new zoning districts to designate areas for student housing, green spaces and multiple forms of housing.
