The Herald-Times The weather couldn’t have been better for the Monroe County Fair on Friday. Sunshine dried up the mud from rain earlier in the week and a breeze blew through the fairgrounds with a temperature in the mid-70’s all evening. It was a beautiful day. The fairgrounds were packed as Monroe County residents finished up the work week. Around 7:30 p.m., a man came over the PA system and said the line of cars waiting to get in and park was a mile and a half long. As some fairgoers hit the carnival on the backside of the fairgrounds, others packed into the grandstand for the rodeo. The lines for almost every food truck were at least 30 people long, and carnival rides like the Avalanche filled up for almost every ride. ....
