Sea bass season starts out with a bang, fluke in the 20-inch class bite well in the bays, and stripers and weakfish take soft plastics in the back bay channels.
Giant bluefin are taken on the troll, stripers feed actively in the bays along with bluefish and weakfish, and fluke season opens.
Striped bass are caught from the bays to the ocean beaches along with bluefish and weakfish, and tautog fishing improves around the inshore wrecks and inlets.
Tog fishing is good around the inshore wrecks and striper activity picks up in the backwaters, with bigger fish around Cape May, as water temps climb and more baitfish arrive.
Tautog fishing is good on the wrecks when conditions allow, and striped bass activity remains steady in the bays with bloodworms, swim shads and poppers as acres of bunker appear out front.
