In a tweet posted by Turner on Sunday afternoon, the mayor called out the promotional team for rapper Bow Wow, who was scheduled to perform at a day party on Sunday at Kamp Houston on Westheimer Road near Uptown. "These events that are scheduled with @BowWowPromoTeam today in Houston are on our radar," said Turner. "Other bars/clubs that are operating as restaurants, beyond capacity and social distancing requirements, please expect visits."
Crowded Houston nightclub evacuated over ‘life-safety concern’ Published: Updated: Tags: HOUSTON – Authorities evacuated a crowded Houston club overnight for “life-safety concern” described as going “beyond the issue with COVID.” At around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to Spire Nightclub, located at 1720 Main St. in downtown Houston, in reference to reports of a large gathering. On arrival, units observed an estimated 200 people waiting in line outside the club. In addition to the crowding outside, the club had exceeded its capacity inside, Houston police said. The club was hosting an event dubbed the “All Black Affair” Saturday night, according the club’s website. An event poster listed Larry Morrow, Trey Songz, Kenny Burns and Fabolous as some of the notable personalities expected to appear at the event. Officers said some event-goers traveled from San Antonio and New Orleans to attend.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A packed downtown nightclub was closed overnight, but the threat was more than just the risk of spreading COVID-19, authorities said. Club Spire in the 1700 block of Main Street was filled beyond capacity, according to the Houston Fire Marshal's office. Fire Chief Samuel Pena said the club was given the option to re-open within capacity guidelines, but management decided to close for the night. "If there was an emergency, a fire or something that would have occurred inside, we would have had a massive loss of life because the means of entry," Pena said. "The exits were blocked."
