During the conference health officials also called on Americans with any sexually transmitted infection, including syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia, to get tested for monkeypox.
Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by monkeypox virus infection, with symptoms including rashes, fever, headaches, muscle ache, swelling and backpain.
Pregnant women with monkeypox will be advised to give birth by C-section to avoid infecting their baby during delivery, according to a new paper in Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
The UK Health Security Agency said there are currently 287 confirmed cases in England, 10 in Scotland, two in Northern Ireland and three in Wales.
