Israeli scientists create lab-made human embryo model from stem cell, paving way to research in early stages of embryo.
Scientists at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel have successfully grown human embryo-like structures in a lab without using sperm, eggs, or a womb. The researchers used pluripotent stem cells to create synthetic embryo models that closely mimic the development of a real human embryo. These models had all the structures and compartments characteristic of an embryo up to day 14, including the placenta, yolk sac, and chorionic sac.
Researchers have successfully developed a human embryo model without the use of an egg, sperm or a womb, which could provide an ethical way of studying this crucial developmental stage.

The team of scientists said that these synthetic embryo models had all the structures and compartments characteristic of this stage.
