UPDATE: Boone County vaccinates nearly 2,000 at first state-supported mass vaccination event

Event organizers said any leftover open vaccine vials will be given to people in the available tiers on a standby list.
UPDATE: 1,802 doses of vaccine were administered at Friday s vaccination event, Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Senior Services spokesperson Sarah Humm said in a statement Friday.
The county had 2,300 doses available. Remaining doses will be given to homebound individuals and local vaccinators.
Humm said they experienced a large number of people not show up for their appointment.
We ask if folks sign up at multiple locations that they please be sure to cancel any unneeded appointments ahead of time. This not only simplifies the process for our local vaccinators, but it also helps get vaccine into the arms of people who need it, Humm said. ....
