we are currently in the police department. hupg hunkered in, called in our police officers. we are not responding to any more calls for service. the conditions are too dangerous to expose our officers to the elements. we lost power and at the police department we are running on emergency power. we are starting to feel the impact of the storm. the worst is still to come. judge jeanine: the men and women in law enforcement. the public doesn t understand they face life and death situation everybody day. they have to understand right now you are the people who are pretty much trying to preserve life putting your own lives at risk when everyone else is man dated or required to flee. ....
Be dramatic. we re set up here to be safe. the scary part about it is that the wind was predictable for the last few hours. it was coming from the atlantic side. we re on the other side here, hunkered in. biscayne bay is over there. it s getting so squirrely now as it s whipping around and coming through and creating a wind tunnel effect here. all the power is out in the florida keys. no surprise there. they re super worried about losing a bridge. that s the main concern of the people down here. you have to understand, they know storms in the keys. an average of one hurricane every four years but nothing like this. there hasn t been one this strong since donna, 1960, 57 years ago today. ....
A bit of new said to report as our continuing coverage goes on here of hurricane matthew. county officials in port canaveral say they re getting calls from residents who initially refused to evacuate yesterday, calling now to be rescued. county officials saying they cannot help at this point and it s too late. this is what s happened all during the night. i was speaking with the mayor of cocoa beach, florida. they were all hunkered in. all of the first responders had been pulled inside and we said, we can t let them out. police in ft. pierce, same thing. this is not unique to that area. that s why the warnings were so strong yesterday, all the way from the governor scott all the way to county officials saying you have to get out today because tomorrow we may not be able to help you. it appears that s the case now. let s go back to bill karins following the storm for us. right now, all concerns are on the vulucia county line. brevard county line. ....
