From staff reports BLOOMINGDALE — Transition to Work students are back on the job after the coronavirus impacted their ability to hone their job skills. Instructor Christina Henderson said her 12 juniors and seniors at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School have been performing tasks outdoors at Vaccaro Field, where they clean up after local games. The work allows them to get hands-on experience outside of school and she hopes they will also resume working for area businesses. “We’re only allowed to have them at Vaccaro Field because it’s outside, but here at school we’ve opened our school store to staff only,” she added. “That allows the students to get their skills by running and cleaning the slush and popcorn machines and making cookies.”

(Photo courtesy of the Hillsboro High School Bowling Team Facebook) The Hillsboro Indians competed at the 2021 OHSAA Division II State Bowling Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27, reaching the final eight bracket and placing seventh overall in the state. The day started with 16 teams, and in the first part of the event, the Indians bowled well enough to make the Final 8 championship round. This was the third time in program history that the Indians boys bowling team reached the championship round and the first time since 2017.

(Photo courtesy of the Hillsboro High School Bowling Team Facebook) The Hillsboro Indians boys bowling team has continued their tradition of reaching the state tournament once again, and for the 2020-21 Indians, they want to improve at state from their performance from a season ago. So much has changed for the Indians in a span of a year, as they — like every other team in the state — had to deal not only with the COVID-19 restrictions, but then there was also a lot of inclement weather in recent weeks, which changed the schedule of later matches.
