right now? >> i believe we're just a few miles away, where the university building, but it set off campus, i believe. not on, campus but just off campus. >> now, they've said people have been instructed to shelter in place. in the area when you arrived, people in the, street or people following those instructions. i mean it's such a stressful situation. >> from my understanding most folks are doing their best to shelter in place. that's the messaging that they've been sharing, to try to encourage people, even if there, concerned even if on parents to come for their kids. the advice is just for them to shelter in place, and to stay safe in a severe location, as best they can. >> and to, confirmed the of the same numbers we do at this point? three individuals confirmed dead? five being treated in an area hospital? >> that's the information we've heard here at this point, we're gonna have another press conference here in a few minutes. perhaps to give us additional information at the time. but my numbers are the same as
yours in the moment. >> and any information on when we will be getting that surveillance video? >> i believe they had mentioned that they may be able to share it at that presser at the end of the night but it's not confirmed it's not exactly clear when that footage will be released to the public. >> and michigan state, how are they communicating right now? this is the largest university in the state of michigan, a sprawling campus, thousands of students both on and off campus. how are they getting the information out? >> for, now the most reputable information, i believe is available to msu police twitter thread. never tied going with information being released. there i believe that'll be the most accurate location. >> they can share them with the public. >> on twitter right now, msu, police be sure if you are following it, that is the only

where we had 500 agents and police, surrounding an area. we thought we had a cop killer lockdown, and he slipped right through the cordon on foot in the middle of the night. other times, when they slip by. it's easy for them to get out, the area is so large, they novak, ali it's darkness, it's right when the police are responding, who trying to take care of the victims, trying to find out what's happening, it scales for the officers when they arrive, it's fog of war, when you get to these places. i was uniformed policemen, and go to shootings and stuff, we really don't know what's going on. you don't know who's who. you don't know -- people are running, people are screaming, people are pointing, the telling information. you try to relay that information to other officers, you're sergeant, lieutenant. it's very chaotic, we called the fog of war. it takes time to start things through, they've done a good job organizing, steph, as you pointed out how they're evacuating the students.

>> hide, fight, so i knew something was horribly, wrong who all my students were emailing. and i was like what's going on. so that's what transpired. >> everyone that you know in your campus community, if you believe them to be safe right now. we're -- trying to connect with as many people as we could, my associate director reached, out calling people, the assistant director and our unit to make sure, emailing back and forth. so we did what we could. certainly to try to gain more information about what it happened, or what was happening. and i will say, hey dealers have continue, which resulted in helpful because they are updates, letting us know that it's not yet done, it's not yet been. >> it is, not students on
