Just a couple of days before the Ryanair diversion incident pitched Belrusian flag-carrier Belavia into a new crisis, it started putting its first Boeing 737 Max into operation as part of its efforts to clamber out of the current one.
"We had all the authorizations to perform the flight. Spain did not ban Belavia flights. However, the plane had to fly in circles for almost two hours before returning to Minsk," Igor Cherginets said.
Ufa will become Belavia's 10th regular route to Russia.
The Belarusian air carrier Belavia resumed flights from Minsk to Russia's Samara on 12 May.
