Sacramento, California - As our Imperial Valley community continues to mourn the loss of dedicated public servant and advocate, Kevin E. Kelley, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) rose to adjourn the Friday, February 12, 2021, California State Assembly session in his honor.
“Kevin E. Kelley was a dedicated public servant, a fierce advocate for our Salton Sea, and an extremely talented musician. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, as our entire State Assembly pays tribute to his legacy of service. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents arrested a man in Imperial Beach Thursday afternoon who was transporting illegal aliens in his car.
At approximately 5 p.m. on February 11, agents initiated a vehicle stop on a suspicious black Cadillac sedan near Sunset Avenue and Saturn Boulevard in Imperial Beach, Calif.
The driver failed to pull over and fled from agents at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, the driver of the Cadillac side-swiped a marked Border Patrol vehicle and another vehicle before coming to a stop. ....

Washington, DC - Female genital mutilation (FGM) has broad implications for the health and human rights of women and girls, as well as societies at large. International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation on February 6 served as an opportunity to reflect on victims who have suffered from FGM, including those who have died or suffered lifelong health complications from the practice.

Sacramento, California - Schenelle M. Flores, 45, of Sacramento, pleaded guilty Thursday to wire fraud in relation to a scheme to divert funds from the California Department of Public Health, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.
According to court documents, Flores used her employment at the Office of AIDS, within the California Department of Public Health, to coordinate the fraud scheme between December 2017 and November 2018. The Office of AIDS is responsible for working on behalf of the State of California to combat the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Flores’s scheme involved directing a state contractor to make payments allegedly on behalf of the Office of AIDS and causing the contractor to charge those payments to the state. Oakland, California - Terrence Patrick Goggin was sentenced Wednesday to one year and one day in prison and ordered to pay $685,000 in restitution for money laundering, announced United States Attorney David L.
