Responsible data stewardship must take many factors into account including legal requirements, data governance, cybersecurity and user privacy.

The project will be led by Native scientists to help improve health in tribal communities. The project, called Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) Tribal Data Repository (TDR): Data for Indigenous Implementations, Interventions, and Innovations (D4I),  is a secure NIH data hub for the use of anonymized Indigenous data in health research.

Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS) is the right of Indigenous people to own and govern data about their communities, resources, and lands. It means Indigenous people are the stewards of data collection and the research done using their data; they are in control of what and how this data is accessed and used. Perhaps most importantly, it means Indigenous people have authoritative input in the application of the knowledge that derives from their data, especially when it comes to policy making.

There are many programs where people can generate art using AI. However, this comes with a risk of non-Indigenous people generating Indigenous art, which negatively affects Indigenous artists.
