Jason Bird, a policy expert at the First Nations University of Canada, said Regina could be on the cusp of something important with a new Indigenous Framework.
The Indigenous framework would centre Indigenous perspectives, values and priorities in all of the City of Regina's services.
The framework is described as a "roadmap" to guide city policy, procedure and practices in a way that aligns with reconciliation efforts.
The City of Regina is proposing to create a separate organizational framework to include Indigenous voices in city services moving forward.
