Kiwis' (mis)perceptions Of Alcohol Attitudes And Behaviours

New research by
the NZ Alcohol Beverages Council (NZABC) shows perception is
not reality when it comes to what Kiwis think about the way
we drink
.
“Although 58% (up 19% from last
year) of those surveyed agreed the majority of New
Zealanders drink moderately and responsibly, close to a
third (29%) still think we don’t – even though official
statistics clearly show the vast majority (80%) of Kiwis
drink in a moderate way,” says Bridget MacDonald,
NZABC’s Executive Director.[i][ii]

Metlink is putting on special direct bus services to and
from Trentham Racecourse over the next few weeks so punters
won’t miss starting orders and get saddled with delays
while essential track and station upgrades are underway on
the Hutt line.
Metlink will be adding direct buses to
its stable of services this summer for race days on 16 and
23 January. The direct buses will run from Wellington
Station to Trentham Station. The direct buses are in
addition to trains which are still operating from Wellington
Station to Taita, with bus replacement services stopping at

Women who go to sleep on their back in late
pregnancy are more likely to have stillbirths. Now, research
from a University of Auckland-U.K. collaboration helps to
explain why, showing a decreased supply of oxygen to the
fetus.
“Sleep on side when baby’s
inside,” is New Zealand’s official advice to women in
late pregnancy, based largely on University of Auckland
research that helped to spread that message around the world
over the past decade.

Prada Cup's Sky Tower Animation

tomorrow, on the eve of each racing day of the PRADA Cup,
Auckland’s Sky Tower will be illuminated in red with the
PRADA Cup logo projected with a variety of animations,
displayed day by day every 30 minutes at the hour and half
hour, to mark the Challengers Selection Series of the 36th
America’s Cup
presented by PRADA.
The show,
offered to Auckland by Challenger of Record 36, will be held
from 9 PM to 2 AM and will be visible from the northern side
