South Asia: Sharp Rise In Child And Maternal Deaths Due To COVID-19

Severe disruptions in health services due to the
COVID-19 pandemic may have resulted in an additional 239,000
child and maternal deaths in South Asia last year, United
Nations agencies said on Wednesday.
In a new
report,
UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF),
World Health Organization (WHO) and UN
Population Fund (UNFPA) said
that the impact also included sharp drops in the number of
young children treated for severe
acute malnutrition as well as in childhood
immunizations.

2021 Enrolment Data: University Of Waikato Community Larger And More Diverse

Māori and Pacific students now make up 35% of
Waikato student body
The University of
Waikato has seen a 9.7% increase in student numbers compared
to this time last year, equivalent to 736 full-time
students.
The number of new to degree students
(largely school leavers) enrolled at the University of
Waikato has grown by 27.4% compared to the same time last
year, and the University has also seen a 19.8% increase in
students who have transferred from other tertiary
institutions.
University of Waikato Vice-Chancellor,

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the social distancing
rules forced millions of people worldwide to change their
daily routine, including how they travel or use mobility

According to data gathered by Finaria.it, global
mobility services revenues halved amid the COVID-19 pandemic
falling to $520bn in 2020. The entire market is expected to
witness a recovery, with revenues rising by almost 62% YoY
to almost $842bn in 2021, still $141bn less than in
2017.
