Incredible Images Reveal a Single Moment on Jupiter in Different Wavelengths of Light

Incredible Images Reveal a Single Moment on Jupiter in Different Wavelengths of Light
12 MAY 2021
Jupiter: king of the planets, protector of the inner Solar System. We all know what the gas giant looks like, with its vanilla and butterscotch ice-cream bands of counter-rotating cloud, and the iconic red storm raging in the southern hemisphere.

But that s only how Jupiter looks in optical wavelengths, though. When imaged in wavelengths beyond the limits of human vision, Jupiter appears differently. In infrared, thermal emission glows brightly, with cooler regions duller red (a bit like lasagna); in ultraviolet, soft, cotton-candy pastels show us different altitudes. ....

New Hotplate-Stirrer Features Innovative IR Heating Technology

Mar 12 2021 Read 2285 Times
Innovative infrared heating technology from Wiggens has been used to produce the new generation hotplate-stirrer WH380. With an integrated, powerful heating capacity and stronger magnetic driving system, these laboratory stirrers are extremely well suited for gentle to intensive mixing of liquids. At the same time, it can quickly heat liquids or simply keep them at a steady temperature. The maximum temperature on the top plate allows up to 550ºC. A powerful magnetic drive system can mix 20 litres of water.
Chemical resistance, a high surface quality, and a resistance to temperature shocks of more than 700°C provides the user with maximum benefits compared to conventional heating surface materials. The poreless smooth surface enables even the most stubborn dirt to be easily removed. The high infrared permeability ensures that the heating energy is transferred quickly and with a low loss rate, i.e. it heats liquids faster than other heating sur ....

NEW Mid-infrared light-emitting diodes (MIR LED) from 2800 nm to 6500 nm for gas sensing

Mar 09 2021 Read 687 Times
nanoplus presents continuous-wave Mid-Infrared LEDs (MIR LED) at any customised wavelength between 2800 nm and 6500 nm. The devices feature continuous-wave operation at room temperature, little power consumption, and a relatively small spectral bandwidth. With these specifications, they are a broadband, incoherent and cost-effective alternative to lasers for many gas sensing applications. Portable detectors especially will benefit from their high wall-plug efficiencies. The mid-infrared LEDs are available on ceramic sub-mount or printed circuit board (PCB).
The wavelength window between 3 μm and 6 μm is a key for high-precision gas analysis based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS). Many trace gases ubiquitous to industrial sites have their strongest absorption bands in this region. They show absorption strengths that are several orders of magnitude higher than those in other infrared areas. This concerns prevalent molecules ....
