The U.S. State Department has subjected more than a dozen individuals allegedly involved in spyware development and distribution, as well as their immediate family members, to visa prohibitions as part of the country's efforts to crack down on spyware misuse, according to The Hacker News.

Threat actors actively exploited 97 zero-day vulnerabilities last year, which is more than 50% higher than in 2022 but lower than in 2021, reports BleepingComputer.
"Today's actions represent a tangible step forward in discouraging the misuse of commercial surveillance tools, which increasingly present a security risk to the United States and our citizens," said Treasury Under Secretary Nelson.
