Virtual Bataan Memorial Death March begins Friday
LAS CRUCES - Friday, April 9 is the beginning of the virtual Bataan Memorial Death March hosted by White Sands Missile Range, honoring the American and Filipino soldiers who were taken in as Japanese Prisoners of War during World War II. Tens of thousands of soldiers surrendered to the Japanese after battling for seven months. They were forced to march 65 miles across the rough Philippine terrain on April 9, 1942 and approximately 10,000 men died.
