New South Korean startup airline begins operations | International Flight Network

South Korean startup carrier Aero K has started commercial operations on April 15 with an inaugural flight from Cheongju to Jeju.
Aero K selectedÂ Cheongju International Airport, which is located southÂ of South Korean capital Seoul, as the base for its flight operations.
Back in 2016, the German company Intro Aviation invested in the airline. But Aero K only received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in December 2020 – about two years later than originally planned.
The low-cost carrier had already received its first of three second-hand Airbus A320 jet in February of last year.Â The aircraft was previously flying for Alaska Airlines and is already 14 years old. In 2007, it was delivered to Virgin America, which merged with Alaska Airlines three years ago. ....

Corsair secures state aid as Intro and TUI sell stakes

The European Commission has approved €136.9 million ($166 million) in state aid for French leisure carrier Corsair, paving the way for the struggling airline’s sale.
The support is split between €106.7 million of restructuring aid and €30.2 million in government compensation for the impact of coronavirus. The majority of the former will be delivered via loans, although around €27 million comes from tax deferrals and credits.
The aid is part of a €300 million restructuring of the airline announced in late November, under which shareholders Intro Aviation and TUI Group will sell their interests to a consortium led by Eric Kourry and Patrick Vial-Collet. ....
