New grant to be used for opioid prevention Thursday, January 7, 2021 10:51 PM Helping Services for Youth & Families in this area has announced a new opportunity to advance the work in making Northeast Iowa a healthier and safer place. The main goal of a recent SOR2 Grant is to increase awareness of opioid and stimulant risks through prevention efforts. The SOR2 Grant started this fall and will continue for two years. The grant covers opioids and stimulants such as methamphetamine in five Northeast Iowa counties: Winneshiek, Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette and Howard. The funding for this grant comes from the Iowa Department of Public Health through a partnership with Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health.
