Muncie man formally charged with murder, obstruction in wife's death
Kenneth Wayne Herbert, 52, had been arrested March 4.
Court documents filed by Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig said Kimberley Herbert, 48, was pronounced dead soon after her husband took her to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital on June 20, 2016.
At the time she arrived at the hospital, the victim was described as "unresponsive and in cardiac arrest."
An autopsy determined the Delaware County woman had died as a result of "multiple traumatic blunt force injuries" to her "head, neck, torso and extremities."
She had also suffered a lacerated liver.
According to an affidavit, three witnesses interviewed in recent months by Delaware County sheriff's investigators reported Kimberley Herbert in the final hours of her life indicated she had been physically assaulted by her husband.
