Pauly's Hotel is one of Albany's oldest taverns. It has been in existence since 1862 and has been completely overhauled and refurbished. It has always had live bands and shows but has gone downhill over the past fifteen to twenty years. Now with a new owner, that is all changing for the better.
Songwriters in the Round Have you ever wanted to just hang out with a crew of songwriters and ride their collective musical vibe? That’s essentially what a round format provides: The artists share the stage, take turns playing songs, banter and collaborate a bit. Lucky You’s upcoming Songwriters in the Round brings together some of Spokane’s most established singer-songwriters — Marshall McLean, Karli Ingersoll of Windoe and Cathedral Pearls, The Holy Broke’s Kent Ueland, and Matt Mitchell — to while the night away in a bout of musical revelry. Soulfly Max Cavalera was a bit of a legend before he even started Soulfly, thanks to being one of the founders of Brazilian metal pioneers Sepultura. After more than a decade of leading that band to the heights of the metal scene, Cavalera split due to some interpersonal drama and kick-started Soulfy, a band that blends thrash-metal roots with some world-music vibes and a taste for experimentation that’s not often seen in metal circles. And while it’s thrilling to hear the trio fire up old faves from albums like 1987’s You’re Living All Over Me, they’ve been surprisingly productive creating new music since they got back together. 2021’s Sweep It Into Space is their fifth album since getting back together, and for ...
Funky Unkle It’s easy to get bogged down in the wintery blah that is late January. If seasonal affective disorder is making you sad, perhaps an infusion of funk can get you back on your feet with some pep in your proverbial step. Spokane’s own Funky Unkle offers an ideal antidote for a downer mood. The eight-piece instrumental funk band brings electric energy and technical prowess to its live shows. Not having singers works in the group’s favor, as an audience can really lock into a groove and turn Lucky You into a full-on dance club for a night.
