Farmers to observe Kisan Diwas today amid stir against agriculture laws

New Delhi: The farmers’ agitation has entered Day 28 on Tuesday, and even after a month since the agitation knocked on the doors of the national capital, the stir doesn’t seem to head towards a resolution as talks between kisan unions and the central government over three contentious farm laws continued to remain inconclusive. 
Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, among other states, have camped on the outskirts of Delhi and have vowed to stay put as long as the agriculture legislations, brought out by the Centre in August this year, are not withdrawn.  ....

NEW DELHI: Farmer unions announced a day-long relay hunger strike on Monday at all protest sites to press for the repeal of the Centre s new agri laws even as Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is likely to hold talks with the protesting groups in a day or two to discuss their demands.
Farmers in Punjab and Haryana as well as those protesting on Delhi s borders observed Shradhanjali Diwas on Sunday to pay homage to their brethren who died during the ongoing agitation .
Farmers bodies have claimed that over 30 farmers participating in the stir have died due to different reasons including heart attack and road accidents. The farmers performed ardaas (prayer) and in some places they also took out protest marches against the Centre. ....

“I am not exactly aware of the timing but Tomar is likely to meet the representatives of farmers tomorrow or the day after to discuss their demands,” Shah told a press conference.
