Covid-19 weekly round-up: Active cases decline, recovery rate exceeds 90 percent

LUMPUR: Covid-19 transmissions have been under control over the week (Feb 27-March 4), with daily new cases falling below 2,500 and the recovery rate reaching 92 percent.
Over the 24-hour period up to noon yesterday, 2,063 new infections were recorded nationwide while 2,922 patients recovered. Earlier this week for three days in a row from March 1 to 3, daily new cases had dipped to below 2,000, that is, 1,828 (March 1), 1,555 (March 2) and 1,745 (March 3). ....

Covid-19: Seven new clusters, five linked to workplaces, another to an aged care home in Sentul


PUTRAJAYA: Seven new Covid-19 clusters were detected on Monday (March 1), one of which involved an aged care home in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that five clusters were linked to workplace infections, while one was a community transmission and another cluster was found among a high-risk group.
The Jalan Cempedak cluster involved the Kepong district and was detected at an aged care home in Jalan Cempedak, Sentul.
To date, 30 individuals had been screened and 10 cases were found positive.
The Bukit Marak cluster was linked to community transmission and involved the Kota Baru and Bachok districts in Kelantan. ....

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected seven new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said five were related to the workplace, and one each linked to the community and high-risk group.
Three clusters were detected in Johor, two in Selangor and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.

Clusters that recorded the highest spike in cases today are the Jalan Kempas Tiga (334), Industri Sungai Gadut (128) and Tembok Tapah (80).
The seven new clusters are:
Selangor
- Desa Empat – a workplace cluster in Kuala Selangor. The first few cases tested positive on Feb 24 after a targeted screening of employees at a supermarket in Desa Coalfields, Sungai Buloh. A total of 28 people have been screened with 18 found positive. ....

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,828 new Covid-19 cases where new cases in the Klang Valley are continuing to fall.
New cases in Selangor (453) have not been this low since Dec 27 last year. Johor reported the highest number of new cases (490), mostly from a single factory cluster.
Four states - Pahang, Malacca, Putrajaya and Perlis - reported new cases in the single digit. 
Locals accounted for 58.1 percent of the new cases reported today. 
Active cases: 25,524
Intubated: 90
There were more patients who recovered from Covid-19 compared to the number of new cases, bringing down the total active cases further.  ....
