Trump administration designates Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home as national monument

Mr. Evers, the first field secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Mississippi, led voter-registration drives and boycotts against segregation before he was shot and killed at age 37 outside his home by a white supremacist. Mr. Evers, a World War II Army veteran, was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
