SOUTH KINGSTOWN The bail hearing for three teenagers charged in a sexual assault case continued into its fifth day as the alleged victim testified that she was intoxicated on the night she encountered the teens and that they took advantage of her. “I was taken advantage of while incoherently drunk,” she said in a Wakefield courtroom Wednesday during the bail hearing for three of the men. PROVIDENCE The Massachusetts man who authorities say faked suicide to evade prosecution on charges that he lied to secure forgivable federal business loans during the COVID pandemic is seeking to be freed as he awaits trial. David Staveley, 53, of Andover, has asked in papers in U.S. District Court to be released to a halfway house or other accommodation so he can receive mental-health treatment for severe post-traumatic stress disorder he says he developed after being assaulted by a corrections officer while serving time in federal prison in 2011. But federal prosecutors are objecting to the release of Staveley, citing a criminal history of deception and fraud that dates back more than a decade and spans New England. ....
