Jasper Grade School Announces Kindergarten Registration for March 31st

Jasper Grade School has announced that Kindergarten Registration for the upcoming school year will be held on Friday, March 31st. It will take place from 12 noon until 3 PM at the Jasper School. This is for those students who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1st. Parents will need to bring a certified copy of the child's birth certificate, immunization records, social security number or card, and proof of residency in the Jasper School District. Incoming students will also need to have a vision exam, dental exam, and physical before the final registration in July. Headlines for Friday, July 15th

The Wayne County Board met Thursday evening with only 8 members present. ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds requests were discussed with the following disbursements unanimously approved: Circuit Clerk $55,000, Emergency Management Agency $47,000, Frontier College $12,000, Humane Society $69,000. The board unanimously approved Engineering work for the 161 & Enterprise Road project. It is unknown when work will begin on the project. The board approved the addition of a $5.00 fee for criminal and traffic charges. The additional funds will be used to assist in Drug Court funding. Sheriff Chris Otey updated the board on Operation 96-6 conducted last week which resulted in the arrest of 12 drug suspects. He further stated that the department had 27 felony arrests in June. He praised his deputies and corrections staff for their excellent work. County Clerk Lizann Woodrow provided a summary of the recent primary election. She stated that 4,005 voters cast ballots and the process went very smoothly. She also said that her office was beginning to work on tax bills and they should be received earlier this year. A request from the Wayne County Housing Authority to have its Payment in Lieu of Taxes lowered was approved. The Housing Authority is working through a Fiscal Shortfall Mitigation Plan. The board agreed to drop the percentage from 10% to 5% for 1 year. Fairfield Memorial Hospital honors an employee each month who has been nominated by their peers for providing extraordinary patient care and customer services within and outside of the Hospital. Lindsay Kinsolving RN BSN, who works at FMH's Horizon Healthcare Clinic in Fairfield, was chosen as the July 2022 Employee of the Month. Lindsay has been with Fairfield Memorial Hospital since August of 2016. "Lindsay is a wonderful, caring RN that always provides our patients with exceptional patient care. She maintains a positive attitude even when faced with new obstacles surrounding healthcare. We are pleased to announce Lindsay Kinsolving RN BSN as our FMH July Employee of the Month." stated FMH CEO Katherine Bunting-Williams. The 4-H Rabbit Show was held Wednesday, July 13 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. The winners were as follows: Fancy Breeds Champion Doe Macie Edwards; Reserve Champion Doe Kiersten Vaughan; Champion Buck Kate Vaughan; Reserve Champion Buck Aubrynn Barnfield; Commercial Breeds Champion Doe Kacie Kinsolving; Reserve Champion Doe Kendall Barnfield; Champion Buck Macie Edwards; Reserve Champion Buck Clayton Fearn. The Wayne County 4-H Home Economics Show was held recently at the Cornerstone Church in Fairfield. 4-H'ers exhibited their foods and clothing projects, with State Fair and trophy winners named. Fairfield Public School District #112 will conduct registration for all students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade on Tuesday, July 19, in the new cafeteria at North Side School, and NOT at Center Street School. This is a change from previous years. Please enter through the North door on the new addition. (Signs will be posted). The hours of registration will be from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. All students must register prior to the beginning of school. Horizon Healthcare will be on-site to provide School and/or Sports Physicals at no cost. No appointment necessary, but a parent does need to be present with student. For Pre-K students proof of household income is required at registration This is required by the State. The 2022-2023 registration fees for grades K - 8 will be $40.00, with an additional $20 Technology fee for 4th – 8th grades. Registration fees must be paid at the time of registration. Every child entering school for the first time (Early Childhood, Pre-K and Kindergarten) and those entering sixth grade must present proof of a physical examination. Students will not be allowed to begin classes until a physical is complete. Every child entering grades Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th must present proof of a dental examination. All kindergarten students and those entering school for the first time, age kindergarten and older, must present proof of an eye exam. School opens August 12th with a 1:00 dismissal. The first day for Pre-k students will be Wednesday, August 17th. Buses will run on a temporary schedule the first week. Children who are not eligible to ride a bus may do so by paying a fee of $80.00 for the first child and $40.00 for each additional child. Transportation fees must be paid before bus service begins. More information regarding the first days of school and meal prices will be available at registration. Parents/guardians of new students and those that have moved will be required to sign a Verification of Residence Statement when registering a student. Proof of residence will be required, such as a driver's license, utility bill, telephone bill, real estate tax form, or any monthly statement. The Verification of Residence Statement will assure school officials that the child and their legal guardian legally reside within the boundaries of Fairfield Public School District #112. The statement will also inform the legal guardian that falsification or misstatement of residence will result in a tuition and penalty fee. The 2022-2023 tuition fees as established by the Illinois State Board of Education for our district will be a maximum of $9501.68. Supply lists for both schools will be available at registration. Pre-school screenings will be conducted on September 14, 15, and 16 at North Side School. Staff will be available to schedule appointments for these screenings at registration. Registration for the 2022-2023 school year for all students in Jasper School District #17 will be held on Monday, July 18, from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Parents are encouraged to register their children on these dates. Parents of Kindergarten students who pre-registered at Jasper in the Spring also need to complete the registration process on this day. Children are eligible to attend school this year if they will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2022. Proof of residency in Jasper CCSD 17 will be required to register including a utility bill, driver's license, or bank statement. Parent of Kindergarten and new students should bring a certified copy of their child's birth certificate and immunization records. Fees for the school year will be $40 payable at registration. The first day of school for students for the 2022-2023 school year will be August 13th. The staff at Jasper School is looking forward to another productive, successful school year for Jasper students. Today is the deadline for All row crops and CRP acreage reporting for Wayne/Edwards County. In order to maintain program eligibility and benefits, farmers must file timely acreage reports. Failure to file an acreage report by the crop acreage reporting deadline may cause ineligibility for future program benefits. FSA will not accept acreage reports provided more than a year after the acreage reporting deadline. Producers are encouraged to file their acreage reports as soon as planting is completed.
