Woman says Altice Mobile illegally attempted to collect debt she didn't owe

PRINCETON A Mercer County woman is suing Altice Mobile for abusive collection practices.
Jaime Arnold claims Altice Mobile has been using abusive and harassing debt collection practices despite her returning and deactivating a cell phone she had never even been able to get connected to her account, according to a complaint filed in Mercer Circuit Court.
Arnold went to open a second phone line on her account and was assigned a phone number for the second account, but encountered issues activating the second line, so she canceled the service to the extra line that was never activated, she claims.
Arnold alleges that despite that, Altice falsely charged her more than $600, but she was then told on Sept. 17 that the billing issue would be resolved, however, that was not the case and the following month she had to, again, cancel the phone service. She spent the next several months dealing with the issue and being harassed by the phone company regarding the bill.
