For Amy Cripe, a nurse manager in Stormont Vail Hospital’s COVID-19 unit, that moment involves a married couple who resided in the hospital at the same time. “We were able to keep them in the same room together up here, which is something we really have not done for a long time since we converted to all private rooms,” Cripe said. The couple’s family lived out of town, so Stormont nursing staff became close with the husband and wife. It was heartbreaking when they lost them to COVID-19.
