Eng vs NZ: England Fined For Slow Over-Rate In First Test At Lord's

Highlights
Joe Root pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction
The first Test between England and New Zealand had ended in a draw
Joe Root-led England on Monday were fined 40 per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against New Zealand in the first Test at Lord's Cricket Ground. Chris Broad of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Joe Root's side was ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration. "In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," ICC stated in an official release.

Chennai, Feb 4 : Touring England are capable of "upsetting the balance" in their Test series against India, starting here on Friday, though Virat Kohli's home team would start favourites, said former India left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi on Thursday.
"India would start as favourites but that's only a way of phrasing it. To me, England are quite capable of upsetting the balance as well," said Doshi during a conversation with former England batsman David Gower and veteran London-based broadcaster and writer Ashis Ray.
