ALEXANDRA: HE LOST HIS DAUGHTER TO A SHOOTOUT WITH POLICE OFFICERS IN ANOTHER STATE. NOW, THEIR POLICE CHIEF WILL SPEAK AT HER FUNERAL. GOOD EVENING. I’M ALEXANDRA STONE. ROB: I’M ROB MCCARTNEY. BLAIR HIGH STUDENTS FARRAH RAUCH AND JOEY DUGAN DIED ONE WEEK AGO AFTER RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME POLICE SAY RAUCH SHOT AT OFFICERS IN MUSKOGEE OKLAHOMA, BEFORE OFFICERS FIRED BACK KILLING HER. DUGAN TURNED THE GUN ON HIMSELF. ALEXANDRA: KETV NEWSWATCH 7’S QUANECIA FRASER SPOKE WITH FARRAH’S FATHER STEVEN WHO INVITED THOSE OFFICERS TO HER FUNERAL, IN HOPES OF TURNING HER DEATH INTO A TEACHABLE MOMENT. QUANECIA: STEVEN RAUCH HOPES OTHER TEENS AND THEIR PARENTS CAN LEARN FROM FARRAH’S LFIE -- FARRAH’S LIFE, INCLUDING THE TRAGIC WAY IT ENDED. >> SHE JUST COULDN’T FIND THAT PEACE WITHIN HERSELF. QUANECIA: FROM MENTAL STRUGGLES TO DRUG ABUSE. >> WE COULDN’T REACH FARRAH, THE TREATMENT CENTERS COULDN’T REACH FARRAH. QUANECIA: STEVEN RAUCH SAYS THE PAST FEW YEARS HAVE BEEN TOUGH FOR HIS DAUGHTER. SOMETHING FAMILIAR TO HIM, TOO. >> I GOT CLEAN AND SOBER IN ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS WHEN I WAS 23-YEARS-OLD, AND UP TO THAT I HAD A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PAST. QUANECIA: RAUCH SAYS JOEY AND FARRAH WERE CAUGHT STEALING FROM CARS LAST SUMMER. HIS LAST MEMORY OF FARRAH IS FROM THE MORNING THEIR PROBATION WAS SUPPOSED TO START. HE SAYS JOEY CAME TO VISIT HER. >> AND THEY WALK OVER HERE, AND THEY SIT IN THIS BENCH. QUANECIA: RAUCH SAYS THE TWO ENDED UP DRIVING AWAY IN JOEY’S FATHER’S CAR. >> SHE NEVER CAME BACK, AND WE FILED A MISSING PERSONS. I TEXTED JOEY’S MOM RIGHT AWAY. QUANECIA: RAUCH LEARNED FARRAH AND JOEY DROVE FROM STATE TO STATE, UNTIL THE CAR BROKE DOWN. HE SAYS THE TEENS TOOK GUNS THAT WERE ALREADY IN THERE. THEY STOLE A VACANT CAR, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A POLICE CHASE IN MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA. >> THEN THEY THROW TACKS ON THE ROAD AND THE CAR FLATTENS OUT, AND THEN CRASHES, AND THEY GET OUT OF THE CAR AND THEY START RUNNING. NOW, WHY DID THEY TAKE THE GUNS WITH THEM? QUANECIA: RAUCH SAYS JOEY KEPT RUNNING, BUT HIS DAUGHTER STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OFFICERS. >> I AM SO SORRY THAT MY DAUGHTER PUT THOSE GUYS IN A POSITION WHERE THEY HAD TO DO WHAT THEY DID. QUANECIA: SO SORRY THAT HE INVITED THE MUSKOGEE POLICE CHIEF TO COME TO HIS FUNERAL. >> EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS ABOUT FORGIVENESS. IT’S ALL ABOUT FORGIVENESS.
