THE problem posed by a pond which regularly forms on a strip of land on a Cardigan estate remains unresolved, Cardigan town councillors have been told. Cllr Sian Maehrlein has been raising concerns about the pool which forms in an area of Felinban renowned for flooding for a number of years. But all attempts to find a solution have been thwarted by question marks over who actually owns the parcel of land. On Tuesday evening Cllr Maehrlein disclosed that a couple of local residents had renewed calls for action to be taken over something they consider to be a potential hazard for local children.
Cardigan council step up campaign for more health centre signs Cardigan mayor Cllr Clive Davies believes some patients are struggling to find the town's new integrated health centre. CARDIGAN town councillors have pledged to try and recruit the support of health chiefs in their efforts to get more signs erected pointing to the town’s new Integrated Care Centre at Rhodfa’r Felin. It comes after a letter from Anna Alderson, a senior information officer at Hywel Dda University Health Board, confirming such a move would have to come from Ceredigion County Council. Town mayor Cllr Clive Davies, who had previously revealed complaints from patients unable to find the centre, admitted he was perplexed by the situation.
The model of Cardigan Railway Station will go on display at Cardigan Castle. A MODEL of Cardigan Railway Station in all its glory has steamed back into town, councillors have learnt. Although the station – located on what is now the Pentood Industrial Estate – closed in 1964, the model of how it was as a working station has been re-located to Cardigan Castle. Cllr John Adams-Lewis said the site of the former station could actually be seen from the room where the model will go on public display. The castle agreed to house the model station at Castle Green House this summer – 57 years after an emotional crowd bearing a 'funeral wreath' waved the last train off from Cardigan as the station which had served the town for almost a century fell victim to the Beeching Axe.

A CARDIGAN county councillor says she has been surprised there has not been a serious accident on the stretch of the A478 heading towards Cardigan. The section of highway, which includes the notorious Burton Bends, has been identified as a possible accident blackspot due to excessive vehicle speeds, ongoing roadworks and falling tree branches. Cllr Catrin Miles told colleagues Ceredigion County Council were aware of rising concerns and had considered the introduction of various traffic-calming measures aimed at reducing the speed of passing vehicles.
