A longtime area activist, who worked behind the scenes with local elections and in various forms of advocacy to improve the lives of others, has died, her family announced.
"In the months that followed an initial phone conversation, client was unable to speak to respondent (Stidham) about his case despite a series of attempts," the Supreme Court said.
Richard Cooley is accused of shooting and killing his wife Feb. 13 at their home in the 2100 block of Damon Street in Portage.

"The police searched the vehicle and recovered eight firearms, 17 magazines, and over 700 of rounds of ammunition," police said.
