Newton NJ Clerk Lorraine Read to retire after 33 years

NEWTON — Municipal Clerk Lorriane Read will retire after 33 years as town clerk on Sept. 1.
Read's last day will be July 30 as she will use unused sick time until her official retirement day on Sept. 1, said Town Manager Thomas Russo, Jr.
With Read's retirement, the town will lose three long-time employees over the next few months. Police Chief Robert Osborne and Kathy Citterbart, the Land Use Administrator who also serves as secretary to the town Planning Board, will also retire this year.
Russo said permanent replacements for the three will be announced later this year.
In other business:
Amendments to the town's zoning ordinance were introduced, that will allow Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps to homes and businesses to be built within setback zones, but with approval of the building department. The setback zones apply to buildings and extensions of buildings and are meant to provide space, depending on the building zone, around structures and between neighboring structures.
